Hello & Welcome
⭐ For Guests of Casitas Tranquil ⭐
Here you will find a map of restaurants, stores, trails, and amenities in West Sedona.
Michele's recommendations are all places you'll find on the map. The pink circle is a half-mile distance from Casitas Tranquil - a distance that is easily walkable.
A few of my other recommendations are listed below the map. You may also want to check out the Sedona Chamber of Commerce's website. It has many recommendations about things to do and places to go in Sedona. You can also visit their visitor's center in Uptown Sedona, on Forest Rd, to peruse brochures, maps, and talk to local volunteers.
Enjoy your time in Sedona!

Wellness
My business, Sedona Meditation Experiences, is perfect for getting out onto the land, learning about meditation, and being guided through a peaceful meditation by me - a seasoned meditation instructor. See my upcoming events here.
For organized events, check out Sedonya Conscious Living Center.
There are a number of spas in Sedona, many of them are on the map, above. More expensive, full-service spas will be at the resorts.
For psychic readings, check out Crystal Healers, next door to Crystal Magic.
Shaman / healing - Walking Crow at Sacred Drum Medicine. Tell him I sent you.
There are a LOT of people offering various services in Sedona. Use your intuition to find who feels right for you. Talk with them first. Check out their reviews. No one healer/teacher/practitioner is going to be good for everyone. And some of the best providers get lost in the noise on the internet.
Favorite Eats
Picazzo's is very close by. They have excellent pizza and Italian food - gluten-free and mostly organic. Happy hour is from 3-6 pm in the bar.
Hiro's Sushi Japanese is excellent and also nearby. I love their beef sukiyaki.
Mrada Indian Cuisine has nice curries.
Cheeky Kiwi ice cream truck is fabulous. Check their Instagram page for their weekly locations in Sedona @cheekykiwicones.
Want something upscale? Mariposa, Rene at Tlaquepaque, Cress on Oak Creek are all good. You will definitely need reservations for dinner.
For breakfast (within walking distance):
- Rascal - good food, good coffee.
- Coffee Pot - diner. Great service, good food, not so great coffee.
- Layla's Bakery Cafe (the one on Dry Creek Rd) - Great everything - especially the almond croissant.
- Shorebird (a bit far to walk) - Excellent breakfast / brunch. Definitely try the potatoes.
Favorite Trails
There are so many trails in Sedona. Check out All Trails, one of the Sedona hiking maps you can purchase at Canyon Outfitters or Basha's. Here are a few considerations when choosing one.
- How difficult is it? This can mean both distance and/or elevation changes. Do NOT underestimate this, especially if you are an inexperienced hiker. Wear appropriate footwear. Bring sufficient water. Protect yourself from the sun. Know the trail on the map.
- Is there ample parking? Or better yet, can you walk to it from Casitas Tranquil? Some popular trails require you to take the shuttle Thursday - Friday. Learn more about the Sedona Shuttle. Many trails have very small parking lots at the trailhead and the overflow parking can be quite far away - adding a half-mile or more to your hike.
- Is it popular with mountain bikers or ATVs? If you are a hiker, you may not enjoy being on a trail that is busy with mountain bikers. Remember that you - as a hiker - have the right-of-way over a bicyclist. They are supposed to stop and let you go by. But not everyone knows or honors this rule of the trail. ATVs throw up a lot of dust and make a lot of noise. Not the best for a peaceful hike.
- What time of year is it? You probably don't want to hike a steep climb in the heat of the summer. That's better for being close to the creek or in a canyon with shadows. Consider what type of trail is best suited for the time of year and time of day you will be hiking.
A few trails I recommend:
- Airport Loop. Walkable from Casitas Tranquil. Moderately difficult. Gorgeous views all around. Plan about 2 hours to do the entire loop at a moderate pace.
- Soldier's Pass. Beautiful trail through a wide canyon. The Devil's Kitchen sinkhole and the Seven Sacred Pools are on this trail. For the more adventurous, there are some cave-like openings on the canyon wall. Small parking lot with overflow parking at Posse Grounds park. 2-3 hours depending on your route.
- Cathedral Rock. A classic. You'll need to take the shuttle Thurs-Sun (after 9:00 a.m.). It's a lovely trail that climbs up to the top of Cathedral Rock - where the angels play. NOT for people with a fear of heights. Short trail, but give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the climb and time at the top.
- Chimney Rock. Fabulous loop trails (both Upper and Lower Chimney Rock) around Chimney Rock. Give yourself about 1.5 hours to enjoy the hike and perhaps check ou the Amitabha Stupa & Peace Park.
- Red Rock State Park has a few lovely trails.
Interesting Things to Do
If you'd like to explore the area, here are a few places I like.
- Bubbling Ponds Fish Hatchery in Page Springs. Nice trail along the creek. Excellent spot for birding.
- Sedona Wetlands Preserve - a wastewater treatment facility and city park. Another great spot for birding.
- Montezuma Well National Monument - in Beaver Creek. Ancient ruins, natural spring, lovely hike.
- Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site - near AZ-179 and US-17 intersection. Amazing petroglyphs and interpretive exhibits.
- Red Rock State Park - riparian park with red rock trails in the Sedona area.
- Sedona Wolf Sanctuary - actually in Camp Verde. Learn about and be with majestic wolves.
- Tuzigoot National Monument - in Clarkdale. Ancient cliff dwelling and wetlands.
- Jerome State Historic Park - in Jerome. State park featuring the history of mining in Jerome.
