You're happily skipping through your day when out of nowhere a funky mood descends upon you. Suddenly you feel icky feelings. Your attitude nosedives. And you can't seem to shake it.
You've been triggered.
Triggering is when something pushes your buttons and you have an emotional response to it. The problem is, anything can be the trigger and usually you don't have a clue what it was.
It could be the person you passed on the street who looks a bit like your ex. Maybe it's a particular anniversary or a seasonal trigger. Whatever - or whoever - it was, it has now left you stewing in a pot of unpleasant feelings. Worse, you might be there for days before you realize that you have, indeed, been triggered.
In today's Sedona Meditation Adventure, I share with you about using mindfulness to help you handle your trigger trauma.
